We will see in a shift in weather this upcoming season from hot to cool and from humid to breezy. But no matter the change in weather pattern your business and your customers can reap the benefits on a rainy or snowy day. Let the weather play a key role in driving traffic into your retail or dealership location by holding a sales promotion. Your customers will be encouraged to make a purchase from your business and weather promotions are a great way to build up your database and gather customer’s information for future contacts. Take advantage of the upcoming seasons by throwing a sales promotion over the holiday season! We have highlighted a few ideas for each holiday to make your business stand out! Identify which holidays and sales dates align with your brand and your marketing schedule so you can be more effective with your seasonal marketing strategy.

Labor Day: This marks the end of summer and back-to-school season. If your a retail chain, you may way to clean out your summer inventory and start fresh. Back-to-school shoppers start as early as April. Yes, 40% of B2S sales occur in August but over 50% of B2S sales occur before August. So the time to start your promotion is now!

Halloween: Nothing is more scarier than a missed opportunity. And Halloween is full of opportunities to attract customers. How about throwing a weather sales promotion based on whether it rains or shines on Halloween? If your customers predict rain they get reimbursed for their purchase and your fully covered from the pay out!

Thanksgiving/Black Friday: Black Friday has now turned into Black Thursday for a lot of retailers with sales starting directly after your Thanksgiving feast. Get creative with your Black Friday marketing and create a scavenger hunt for your customers. Give shoppers an object, a menu item, or a short list of things to spot in your store. Have shoppers take a picture with their phone and show it to the cashier for a discount. You could also create a series of clues that lead customers to a hidden spot where a bowl of coupons sits.

Christmas: Host a Secret Santa coupon sale for only your e-mail list, or only your twitter followers, or only via a private requested Facebook message. Or how about spreading the love this Christmas? Offer to include a gift certificate or coupon for a dollar-off amount in all orders purchased during a certain window. That way buyers can buy a gift for a loved one, and get themselves a gift with the certificate after the holidays.
