Weather coverage is a very time sensitive type of insurance because the weather can be predictably accurately up to a week before an event. Because of this, US Weather Insurance must bind weather policies 10 days before the event date to guarantee that the weather forecast does not affect the policy. In order to bind the coverage, we must receive a signed application and proof of payment from the client at least 10 days before the event. Once that is received and the application is submitted through to our carrier, we can not cancel the policy.
Here are some helpful tips to know about your event to ensure that you won’t need to cancel or adjust your policy.
– Know your budget- adding weather coverage into your overall event budget in the planning stages will allow you to make the best decision on what type of coverage is needed and much much your event can afford.
– Know what it will take to cancel the event- if you covering a concert, you might need more than just rainfall coverage. A band will not perform if there is lightening in the area so a Severe Adverse Weather policy might be the best option.
– Know when you need the coverage- if it is a three day event but a majority of your budget is going into one day, just cover one day. It is much more expensive to cover long time frames of coverage or multi-day policies. Identify the most important time frame of you event and make sure your purchase coverage for that!
